- From the culturally rich state of Manipur, we bring to you Chakhao or Black Aromatic Rice also known as forbidden rice or Emperor’s rice. Its taste, texture and aroma lend a very unique flavour to your kheer and other sweet dishes. Having anti-oxidants property, black rice is also a good source of Vitamin E, fibre, proteins and many other nutrients. Chakhao is also ideal for regular consumption in place of white rice as it is known to effectively control diabetes and reduce cholesterol. The rice can also be used in flour form in the preparation of chiwda, rasgulla/gulab jamuns, bhujia, puri, etc.
