Nungbi Chaphu or Longpi Black Stone Pottery is an ancient craft from the Tangkhul tribes reside in the Nungbi village. The pottery is made from a black clay found only in the Longpi hills in Manipur. The pottery is known for its unique texture and color and for its health benefits, as it does not leach toxins like other cookware. Longpi pottery is best used for cooking meat, as the porous clay retains moisture and helps to keep the meat tender and juicy.
The traditional Longpi cuisine of Luira includes pork cooked in large Longpi ham in moderate temperature overnight with much locally produced chilli (Sirarakhong Chilli).
