Boro Saheb Ongbi Sanatombi – Special Edition is a celebrated historical novel by Maharaj Kumari Binodini Devi (M.K. Binodini Devi), a prominent figure in modern Manipuri literature.
Originally published in 1976, the novel received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1979. Set in Manipur during the late nineteenth century, the story follows a romance between a Manipuri princess and a British officer against the backdrop of political upheaval, the loss of Manipur's sovereignty, and the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891.
This special edition closely follows the original 1976 edition. It includes an introduction by L. Somi Roy, a historical timeline, a cast of major characters, the author's original characterisation presented through graphics, and a bibliography of M.K. Binodini Devi. It also corrects typographical and editorial errors found in previous editions.
The cover artwork is based on the original design by Thoidingjam Tombi. Published by Imasi Books, this edition preserves an important work of Manipuri historical fiction and literary heritage.
